Glutathione is one of the most powerful antioxidants that your body naturally makes. It guards nearly every tissue. Unfortunately, as we age our Glutathione levels decline and with our ever increasing toxic environment it is very important to not forget about this master antioxidant. Glutathione levels are considerably reduced during times of illness, stress and constant exposure to toxins.
With that said, having proper amounts of this antioxidant will help to reduce the harmful effect of heavy metals, free radicals and other toxins. A properly working detoxification/cleansing program is important to assist in keeping your Glutathione levels optimum.
It is also important to eat foods that will boost Glutathione. Natural food sources such as walnuts, spinach, broccoli, asparagus, avocados and watermelon will help to boost levels. Turmeric and Garlic are also beneficial, as well Milk Thistle, Exercise and Vitamin B6.
I’m a huge proponent for drinking herbal tea especially green tea and most recent studies showed green tea supplementation increases Glutathione levels.
